Slipping pedals and worn-out grip are two of the most common frustrations for riders upgrading from stock components — and they affect confidence on trail more than almost anything else. These flat mountain bike pedals are built around a CNC-machined aluminum alloy platform, conical anti-slip pins, and a 12mm steel axle with a DU bushing and sealed cartridge bearing system, giving you a stable, grippy, and durable platform for trail, gravel, and enduro riding.

Why It Stands Out

CNC-machined aluminum alloy body — precision-machined construction means consistent dimensions and a rigid platform underfoot, so there's no flex or movement when you're putting power through the pedals.

Conical anti-slip pins — the tapered pin shape bites into your shoe sole while still allowing small foot adjustments mid-ride, so you can reposition your stance on technical terrain without fully losing contact with the platform.

12mm high-tensile steel axle — the oversized axle diameter increases load capacity and structural rigidity compared to the 9mm axles common on entry-level pedals, making it better suited to the repeated impacts of trail and enduro riding.

DU bushing and sealed cartridge bearing — the dual-support axle system pairs a DU bushing for shock resistance with a sealed cartridge bearing for smooth rotation. The sealed design is built to resist water and grit ingress during wet and muddy rides.

118 × 99.5mm platform with 13.8mm profile — the wide platform gives your foot a well-supported base, while the low 13.8mm thickness keeps the pedal close to the crank for improved ground clearance on technical terrain.

Open-cage hollow body design — the cutaway sections in the platform allow mud and water to drain through rather than accumulate on the surface, keeping the pins exposed and in contact with your shoe.

~304g per pair — a lightweight aluminium construction that reduces rotational weight without sacrificing the platform stiffness needed for trail riding.

9/16" universal thread — compatible with the vast majority of adult mountain bikes, gravel bikes, enduro bikes, and cruisers straight out of the box, with no adapters required.

Where to Use It

Trail and enduro riding — the conical pins and wide platform provide a stable, grippy contact point on technical singletrack, loose terrain, and rooted descents.

Gravel and adventure cycling — the low 13.8mm profile suits gravel bikes where ground clearance matters, and the open cage drains the mud that accumulates on longer mixed-surface rides.

First upgrade from stock plastic pedals — the aluminium platform and pin system offer a meaningful improvement in grip and platform rigidity over moulded plastic stock pedals.

Urban and commuter riding — the sealed bearing system and aluminium construction are suited to daily use in wet city conditions.

Bike park and pump track sessions — the reinforced 12mm axle is built to handle the repeated lateral and impact loads of jumps, drops, and berms.

How It Works

1.Conical pin grip system — the tapered pins are positioned across the platform surface. When you step onto the pedal, the pin tips press into your shoe sole, creating multiple grip points. The conical shape allows small foot movements before reaching full resistance, so you can adjust your position without the pins disengaging completely.

2. DU bushing and sealed cartridge bearing axle — the 12mm steel axle is supported by a DU bushing at the outer end and a sealed cartridge bearing at the inner end. The sealed cartridge bearing is designed to keep grease retained and to resist water and grit entry, which helps maintain smooth axle rotation over time.

3. Open-cage aluminium platform — the cutaway sections in the body create drainage channels through the platform. Mud, water, and debris pass through rather than sitting on top of the surface, keeping the pins at full height and in contact with your shoe sole.

How to Install and Set Up

1.Identify left and right pedals — each pedal axle is marked "L" (left) and "R" (right). Installing on the wrong side will cause the pedal to unthread during riding, so confirm before starting.

2. Clean the crank arm threads — wipe the threaded holes with a clean cloth to remove old grease or debris from the previous pedals.

3. Apply bicycle grease to the axle threads — a thin layer of grease on the axle threads before installation helps prevent seizing and makes future removal easier, particularly in wet riding environments.

4. Thread in by hand first — start threading each pedal by hand to avoid cross-threading. The right pedal is standard (clockwise) thread; the left pedal is reverse (counter-clockwise) thread.

5. Tighten with a pedal wrench or 6mm hex key — use the flats on the axle with a pedal wrench, or a 6mm hex key inserted into the axle end. Tighten firmly and evenly.

6. Check foot position once installed — stand on the pedals and confirm that the ball of your foot sits over the axle centre point, which is the most efficient and stable position for pedalling.

Tip: A quick rinse of the platform after muddy rides keeps the pin holes clear and prevents hardened debris from building up around the bearing seal area.

Care and Maintenance

Rinse after muddy or wet rides — use a low-pressure hose or damp cloth to clear mud and grit from the platform and pin areas. Avoid directing high-pressure water at the axle seal, as this can force water past the bearing seal.

Inspect pins periodically — check pins for bending or wear after hard use, particularly following rock or root impacts. Damaged pins can be individually replaced using a standard hex key.

Re-grease axle threads when removing pedals — apply fresh bicycle grease to the axle threads any time the pedals are removed and reinstalled, to prevent corrosion and thread damage.

Check for axle play every few months — hold the crank and gently rock each pedal laterally. Noticeable play may indicate the bearing or bushing needs servicing. This is normal after extended riding in wet conditions.

Dry before long-term storage — if the bike is stored for an extended period, ensure the pedals are dry and consider a light application of bike-specific protectant on the platform surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these pedals fit my mountain bike?
These pedals use a 9/16" thread, which is the standard size on the vast majority of adult mountain, gravel, enduro, and cruiser bikes. If your current pedals are adult size (not 1/2" BMX or kids' bike thread), they will thread directly onto your crank arms without any adapters. If you're unsure, check your existing pedal axle or crank arm for the thread size before ordering.
Do I need special shoes to use flat pedals with pins?
No specialist footwear is required — the conical pins work with most rubber-soled shoes, including trail running shoes, skate shoes, and dedicated flat MTB shoes. That said, shoes with a softer rubber sole and flatter profile will generally give more contact between the sole and the pins. Regular road cycling shoes with hard carbon or plastic soles are not suitable for use with flat pedals.
Are the pins replaceable if they get damaged?
The conical anti-slip pins are individually replaceable using a standard hex key. This means a damaged or worn pin can be swapped out without replacing the entire pedal. Replacement pins are a standard consumable item available through bike parts suppliers.
How do I know which pedal is left and which is right?
Each axle is stamped with "L" for the left pedal and "R" for the right pedal. This matters because the left pedal uses a reverse (counter-clockwise) thread — installing it on the wrong side will cause it to loosen and unthread while riding. Always check the marking before installation.
Can these pedals be used in wet or muddy conditions?
The open-cage aluminium platform is designed to allow mud and water to pass through rather than pack onto the surface. The axle uses a sealed cartridge bearing, which helps resist contaminant ingress during normal riding. As with all mechanical components, rinsing after muddy rides and periodic maintenance will extend the service life of the bearing system.
What is the weight of the pedals?
The confirmed weight is approximately 304g per pair (both pedals combined). This is consistent with the scale measurement of 303.4g shown in the product documentation. Individual pedal weights may vary marginally within manufacturing tolerances.
